Emma and Matt had a great wedding day and was very lucky with the weather. They had decided to have the wedding ceremony up on Mt Roy so we really needed a good day up there. We flew up in style with Wanaka Helicopters new Eurocopter. Hardly any wind and and a refreshing 8 degrees made it probably the warmest winter day you can have up at that altitude! After the ceremony they enjoyed some champagne and some photos before flying back to the airport. We did some more location shots down by the lake before they headed back to Oakridge Resort and the spa pools.

Kate and Caleb had a great winter wedding at Lake Ohau. It was perfect weather with blue sky and no wind. I got some nice snowboard shots on the way down to the ceremony site which was held on a ridge called the “Wedding knob” up at the ski field. After the ceremony we had some more fun and played around in the snow without worrying about the dress and I finally to use my former world cup skiing skills and experience when shooting a wedding.

It was one of the wettest days in Wanaka for a long time with no breaks in the rain all day. I always make sure I have additional lighting with me and lots of ideas for when these rainy day turns up which was needed.
Tiri Tiri lodge is a great venue and a good place to shoot a rainy wedding. Shelley and John are from NZ but have been living in Geneva for the past 11 years.
It was a small intimate wedding and it was easy to fit all guest inside for the ceremony.

I attended the seminar with David Beckstead last week. David is from the States and has been voted as one of the Top 10 Wedding photographers in the world. He is seen as a master when it comes to dramatic compositions and wedding images with a fashion flair. It was a full on 8hr day with David discussing composition, how he interacts with his couples and how he gets those amazing images he is famous for.
We got to be “behind the scenes” of his work and he showed and talked about how a certain image was created and what to look for to get those images. We also had lots of time to ask question and spend one on one time with David and he helped me with some new personal ideas for my weddings. Read the rest of this entry »

Mantells in Wanaka is an amazing house, it recently won architectural awards and it is really one of a kind. The height inside together with the unique furniture and the use of space is what it makes it so different. It has a nice indoor and outdoor flow with big windows and a light colours.

Felicity and Trent booked me about 3 years ago so It was nice to finally meet them. The rain was pouring down all morning and we had a helicopters booked for locations shots before the ceremony…
It didn’t look like there was any chance of flying so we decided to go for our plan B for the location shots but when Felicity was dressed and ready we got a call from the pilot and we were all go!!
We dashed to the airport and flew up to the top of Remarkables and got some really nice shots before heading back down for the ceremony and reception at Stoneridge Estate.
They had some nice looking Mazda’s as wedding cars and wanted some good shots of them so we headed down for a quick shoot at Lake Hayes with the sun setting behind the mountains. A great day with rain, sun and fun.

Lanee and David had an amazing wedding day in Wanaka. A really warm and sunny day and everything from ceremony to the smallest details was perfectly planned by Laura form Mint Events. The ceremony was held down at the lakefront in Wanaka with Jools Macknight as the celebrant.
All the guest were enjoying the view and the great weather while having drinks served down by the lake before heading up to The Venue for the reception. We walked down to the beach for some location shots before beeing picked up by Wanaka Helicopter’s new Eurocopter and flown up to Mt Roy.
We had one of the best day’s of the season up on the mountain and had a really relaxing time up there with drinks, canapes and photos. We landed back at the The Venue for the reception and it was all redone in white inside with elaborate table settings and arrangements. A great wedding from start to finish.
