Posted: November 17th, 2011 | Tags: , , , , , , , | No Comments »

Photographers from over 90 countries entered this years prestigious International Loupe Awards , so It felt great to take home 7 Awards!  Last year I got a Loupe award for a heli wedding in Queenstown and i’m proud to say that I scored  high with my weddings again, but this year I also won awards for my commercial work. Here are two of my favorites. The first commercial/fashion award is of local model Charlotte Gardiner with makeup by the very talented Gena Bagley. The Second shot “The running girl” was for a worldwide campaign for a client of ad agency Interbrand. Feels good to get recognition for all the hard work and big thanks to all my clients – weddings couples and corporates!

Spending a day with Heather Waraksa

As a photographer I take all opportunities I can to meet with other top photographers. It doesn’t matter how good you are, you never stop learning.

Heather Waraksa, from Brooklyn NY, is one of the top 10 wedding photographer in the world and is famous for her cinematic and fashion inspired images. She was recently in New Zealand and I spent a whole day with her last week. I got lots of new ideas and concepts to experience with couples for the next coming season.

The night ended in true NY style with cocktails in the company of great photographers.

It has been an amazing year, meeting 3 of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world was something i never thought would happen. David Beckstead  with his distinct style, Jerry Ghionis who makes every wedding glamourous and rock’n roll and Heather’s soft, beautiful and romantic images.

Here are a few images taken last week,  inspired by Heather Waraksa’s work

Christmas has come early! I have just found out that I’ve won 6 Wedding Awards in the Canon Creative Asia Awards!!!  It’s such an amazing feeling for me and for the couples involved. I always try to push the boundaries of wedding photography and always work on new ideas and ways to push my photography further.

I have really been working hard this last year and spending time with Jerry Ghionis and David Beckstead, two of the worlds top 10 wedding photographers has definitely helped. They have given me lots of new ideas and inspiration, but most importantly reinforcing the fact that photography is very personal and you shoot as you are as a person.

Thanks again to all my couples over the last year and thank you to all my upcoming couples who have chosen to have me as a part of your wedding day.

2011 is going to be another great year - I can’t wait:)

The international Aperture Awards is one of the biggest photo competitions in the world with photographers from 91 countries entering this year.  I  entered one image which received a Bronze Award.  I am very proud to add this award to my previous 4 Iris Awards, won a couple of months ago. Competitions are a great way to endorse the quality of my photography and keep it at top level and they ensure I constantly evolve as the industry grows. I always try and make time to win awards for my couples and for my photography
