A wild Queenstown wedding

Posted: October 8th, 2010 | Tags: , , | No Comments »

I love weddings where there is rock roll from the start. I met up with Erica and her bridesmaids in the morning at the Mercure i Queenstown and they were in super form, laughing and having fun.

After shooting them getting ready we did some fun shots on the grounds and the gym….

I headed over to Joe and the boys to get them getting ready before the ceremony at St Josephs church in Queenstown.

They had a big bridal party and dedicated almost 2 hours to shoot so we had lots of time to relax have fun and to get some great images before heading back to the Mercure for the reception

A Winter Wedding in Queenstown

Frances and Andrew had an amazing Queenstown wedding planned by Mint Events. The ceremony was held at St Peter’s church in central Queenstown.  After the service we did the formal shots outside the church before heading to the airport to fly up in the mountains. We had about 20 cm of snow where we landed so they got good use of their winter boots.  It wasn’t too cold,  so we got great shots before it started to snow and it was time to head back. The reception was held at the Heritage hotel and we did some bridal party shots on the roof top there before the dinner.

Winter Wedding on Mountain top

Emma and Matt had a great wedding day and was very lucky with the weather. They had decided to have the wedding ceremony up on Mt Roy so we really needed a good day up there. We flew up in style with Wanaka Helicopters new Eurocopter.  Hardly any wind and and a refreshing 8 degrees made it probably the warmest winter day you can have up at that altitude!  After the ceremony they enjoyed some champagne and some photos before flying back to the airport. We did some more location shots down by the lake before they headed back to Oakridge Resort and the spa pools.

Snowboard Wedding at Lake Ohau

Kate and Caleb had a great winter wedding at Lake Ohau. It was perfect weather with blue sky and no wind. I got some nice snowboard shots on the way down to the ceremony site which was held on a ridge called the “Wedding knob” up at the ski field. After the ceremony we had some more fun and played around in the snow without worrying about the dress and I finally to use my former world cup skiing skills and experience when shooting a wedding.

A rainy Wanaka Wedding at Tiri Tiri Lodge

It was one of the wettest days in Wanaka for a long time with no breaks in the rain all day. I always make sure I have additional lighting with me and lots of ideas for when these rainy day turns up which was needed.

Tiri Tiri lodge  is a great venue and a good place to shoot a rainy wedding.  Shelley and John are from NZ but have been living in Geneva for the past 11 years.

It was a small  intimate wedding and it was easy to fit all guest inside for the ceremony.
